London Team

Hattie Paterson

London Director

In April 2015, after three years in Upstate New York, Hattie returned to London to join the EUSA team. Having been fortunate enough to study in three countries, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam, she has developed a real commitment to the benefits of a global education. In Hattie’s previous work as a Study Abroad Advisor at The State University of New York College at Brockport, she has been dedicated to the development and professional preparation of students. Outside of work Hattie’s passion is travel. She considers herself a “cultural chameleon” being able to adapt anywhere, at any time; the next country on her bucket list is India! Hattie likes to spend time going to gigs, visiting galleries and eating cake.

Kate Duffy

Kate Duffy

London Internship Relations Director

Kate has worked with EUSA since 2000, first as a member of the Placement Team (which she led from 2006), then as London Director and now as London Internship Relations Director. She was new to the field of international education when she started with EUSA, but had tried her hand at virtually everything else, including: publications for Rolls Royce, working for a music copywriting firm, two different bookies, a racetrack, a residential centre for children with behavioral issues and epilepsy, a retirement home, and “a brief stint as the world’s worst waitress and barmaid.”

As one of EUSA’s longest serving team members, Kate has clearly found her calling, and is particularly proud of having helped so many students do the same. Kate was born and raised in London and earned an honors degree in Psychology and Literature from Derby University. When she isn’t developing new placements for EUSA's flagship site, Kate is probably reading, traveling, attending music festivals, and generally trying to learn more about new cultures and destinations.

EmmaEmma Freeman

London Assistant Director

Emma joined EUSA Placement Team in early 2015 having gained experience in the industry on a reciprocal programme; placing non US citizens on a combined work and study exchange programme based in New York. Emma graduated from Cardiff University with a BA in Journalism, Film and Media and then began a stint working at the BBC, followed by a round the world trip that ignited her love of travel and overseas experience. Emma's travels eventually took her to Vancouver, Canada where she spent over two years gaining first hand insight into the benefits of living and working abroad. It was upon her return from Vancouver that Emma decided that international exchange programmes where her real interest lay and has continued along this career path since. In her spare time Emma loves to travel both locally and internationally and her time spent in Vancouver has left her a keen cyclist, gardener and ice hockey fan.

Alyssa Takagi

London Program Manager

Originally from the United States, Alyssa was fortunate enough to visit Europe many times as a kid.  When she was 14, she came to London on holiday and decided that one day this would be home.  After finishing university, where she worked in many student service roles from a resident assistant for international students to an orientation leader, Alyssa decided to follow her dreams to London.  Not before, however, making a 2-year pit stop in Italy so she could eat, learn Italian, and eat some more.  Finally, making it to London in spring 2015, Alyssa has been fortunate enough to make friends from all over the world—only doubling her travel bucket list—while working at a youth hostel. Happily joining the EUSA team in 2016, she’s able to combine her love for different cultures with her love for London and student services.  Alyssa is usually at her happiest when she has a Starbucks in hand, a trip to the cinema in mind, and is off exploring the streets of London on foot.

Helen GreenHelen Green

London Office Manager

When Helen moved from Ireland to London, she originally planned to stay for six months, but nine years later and she is still here!

Within a year this led to a full-time position processing admission for the sixth form and assisting students with their UCAS applications (UK university application process).  Helen joined the EUSA team in March 2011 and in her spare time enjoys reading, music, catching up with family and friends, tv, food and travel.
