Dublin Team

Janice Gaffey

Dublin Director

Janice has worked in higher education since 2002. She has lived in Dublin for the last 17 years, apart from a spell working in Sri Lanka. She was the founding Head of Faculty of Journalism & Digital Media at Independent College Dublin in 2008, prior to which she lectured at Dublin Business School's Creative Arts Department for four years. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Communications (Journalism) from Dublin Institute of Technology. On completion of this degree, Janice joined the postgraduate research programme at DIT, working as a teaching assistant whilst completing her M.Phil. Her M.Phil research was published by Academica Press, Bethesda in 2007 as Witnessing the Pandemic. Janice has travelled extensively in Asia, Europe, Australia and North America, and her favourite destination is New York City. Her interests include current affairs, crime fiction and music.

Hazel Moloney

Hazel Moloney

Dublin Program Manager

EUSA lured Hazel back to Ireland from Paris in 2008 after her brief stint as a EUSA lecturer and administrator in 2005. Hazel has lived in Dublin for most of the past 15 years, but she’s not a “Dub” – she’s originally from Limerick. Hazel has Masters degrees in Politics and Classical Civilization from University College Dublin, and secretly wishes she also had a degree in Geology. Her teaching and education background includes working as a lecturer for the Open University, Boston University’s Dublin Program, EUSA, and teaching English to French communications professionals. She prefers to travel “intensively” rather than “extensively” – taking time to immerse herself in a culture for longer periods and considers working in international education a privilege. Hazel has some of the most disparate extracurricular interests in EUSA: she is a fan of both art house cinema and professional wrestling.

Cabrini Clancy

Dublin Office Manager

Cabrini joined EUSA on a permanent basis in late 2009 after impressing her colleagues and EUSA’s students as a temporary Placement Manager earlier that year. She hails from Durrow, Co. Laois, but has lived in Dublin for the last eight years. Cabrini’s professional background is in recruitment rather than education, but like everyone else at EUSA, she is an inveterate traveler, having lived in San Francisco and traveled throughout Europe. Cabrini loves spending time with her four sisters and their children as well as attending live music and comedy events.

DonallHoeyDonall Hoey

Dublin Office Manager

Donall joined the EUSA Dublin team in 2014 having graduated with a BA(Hons) in Journalism from Independent Colleges. His previous jobs include freelance journalist, nightclub manager, golf club steward, and bouncer. Donall also held two internship roles in the Irish Independent newspaper and was nominated for Irish Student Journalist of the Year at the 2012 Student Media Awards.

Donall is currently studying for an M.A. in International Relations at Dublin City University. In his spare time, he loves going to the gym, cooking, playing football, and golf.

CatherineKehoePicCatherine Kehoe

Dublin Placement Manager

Catherine started in EUSA in 2014 as a Summer Placement Manager. She describes herself as a "reader, doodler, music enthusiast, amateur foodaholic, wine drinker, travel fan, with a fondness for laughing, dancing, and Century Gothic font with an intolerance of spelling mistakes!" During her free time, she can be found by the main stage at Electric Picnic, at cheesy gatherings, and occassionally attempting to oil paint her way out of a corner.

Ciara Gallagher

Dublin Placement Manager

Ciara joined the EUSA Dublin team in 2017. She has a PhD in English from Maynooth University, and has worked in different universities in Ireland. Most recently, Ciara worked on a children’s books research project and has a great interest in children’s literature and culture.  Ciara has worked as a volunteer in a school in north-east India on a number of occasions, and tries to keep in contact with some of the wonderful teachers and students she met there. Ciara also enjoys volunteering at creative writing workshops for children and young people.

In her spare time, Ciara loves travelling, reading, and going to gigs and music festivals.

Sean Harrington

Dublin Placement Manager

Seán has been working with EUSA as a Placement Manager since early 2017. While he has lived in a plethora of different countries, County Louth in Ireland is very much his home. Prior to moving back to Ireland in 2016, Seán had spent 11 years away, living in Portland OR, Paris, and London.

While in the UK Seán lectured in film studies and games design at St Mary’s University, Twickenham and at Brunel University, West London, where he also completed an MA and a PhD in psychoanalytic theory.

Fergus Gaffney

Dublin Placement Manager

Fergus has worked as a placement manager with EUSA since 2016. He began his career in hospitality, receiving a BA in international culinary arts from Thames Valley University, London. Fergus has traveled extensively, working as a professional chef, and spent a number of years working and living in Australia.

Fergus also has a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and a Clinical Masters in psychoanalysis. Fergus has worked with both adults and children in various clinical settings around Dublin, as well as in private practice. His hobbies include film, literature, martial arts, and gaming.

Vinija Kolumbić

Dublin Program Management Assistant

Vinija joined EUSA in 2017 as a Program Management Assistant. Since completing her Masters of Arts in Political Science, she has worked with children with special needs and as a researcher, lecturer, and costume reconstructor. A Croatian native, she decided to leave her beautiful country and move to Dublin permanently in summer 2014.

She spent most of her adult years travelling far and wide. Besides travel, Vinija is passionate about all things fantasy and medieval, including practicing medieval sword fighting, archery, and costume making.

SineadNiSinéad Ní Bhroin

Dublin Placement Manager

Sinéad first joined EUSA in 2015 as a Summer Placement Manager. She holds an MA in Film and TV Production from DCU and a BA in English and History from NUI Maynoth.

Prior to her work with EUSA, Sinéad specialised in Film and Arts production; producing award-winning documentaries, animation, and drama feature films. Sinéad has also run film festivals in Dublin, Cork, and Galway. During this period, she supervised a number of students in EUSA programmes, insight which she carries to her current position.

In her spare time, Sinéad loves cycling in the city, dancing with friends, and eating in any of the many amazing restaurants in Dublin. Ask her for recommendations!
