Based in one of Ireland’s largest children’s hospitals, you have the opportunity to assist in a busy hospital lab. You gain experience through shadowing a medical scientist and observing the work processes that take place in various areas of the laboratory. The placement provides a comprehensive understanding of the work carried out in the department and the role the department plays in patient care.
“My role is to assistant the medical scientists in the main histology laboratory. I enjoy the teaching atmosphere. The medical scientists and pathologists take the time to show me interesting cases. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, and the environment is pleasant and happy. I have learned so much.”
